Robert Cawthorne
Managing Director
Rob’s background is in IT, as the Managing Director of Vigilant Solutions - a specialist IT & software development company. Rob has been involved in the generation of various environmental management applications including the creation of the flood flow management for the Hunter River Salinity Trading Scheme. This scheme is considered one of the first working models of an environmental trading scheme in the world. 

As a keen skier and hiker, saving our climate is Rob’s number one priority. Rob is applying his business and technical skills in the area where he feels he can help prevent a climate crisis.

Gavin Pereira, B. Eng (Photovoltaics), BCSE Accredited Solar Installer
Environmental Director        
Gavin is a solar engineer, and has a keen interest in sustainable development both internationally and within disadvantaged communities within Australia.  He has been heavily involved in solar projects in Nicaragua and the Cape York Peninsula and developed the solar component of the University of NSW's Indigenous Engineering Summer School. Gavin also co-ordinated an effort in conjunction with OzHarvest to divert all leftover food from the University of NSW's retail outlets into soup kitchens and homeless shelters.

Gavin has extensive knowledge of the state based, national and international greenhouse trading schemes that are currently operating. His passions lie in creating greenhouse gas reductions through energy efficiency and renewable energy projects, and Gavin is able to fulfil this passion through his work at CRI.

Andrew Barson, B. Eng (Photovoltaics) / B. Arts
Projects Director
Andrew has a deep understanding of the technical, commercial and social aspects of renewable energy systems.  His passions lie in renewable energy, both the technical side of solar cell design and production and the practical side of implementing this technology where it is most needed.

Andrew oversees the greenhouse abatement and energy efficiency projects run by the Carbon Reduction Institute and has experience designing projects for both the NSW GGAS and Greenhouse Friendly schemes.  Andrew views his work at the Carbon Reduction Institute as part of the solution to averting dangerous climate change.

Sam Lucic
Business Development
Sam has 20 years experience in sales/business development. Driven by a desire to apply his skills to being part of the solution to climate change, he joined the Carbon Reduction Institute in early 2008. Since he started working for CRI, Sam describes every day as being new, interesting and personally satisfying. Being at the forefront of climate change action, Sam is our first point of contact for many businesses wanting to become carbon neutral.

Berenike Hartmann, BA Bus. Comm. Management / MA Int. Studies
Marketing Manager
Berenike’s background is online marketing and business communication, but she has diverse interests and brings along a wealth of knowledge from many different areas. She came to Australia as an international student and joined the Carbon Reduction Institute after completing her Master’s degree.

Berenike is intrigued by international relations, foreign aid issues and the environment. To her, the current climate change crisis is as much a political challenge as it is a business challenge. Berenike has put in many hours of volunteer work in development projects in Uganda and Tanzania and believes that every contribution, however small, can make a difference for a better world. Being a nature lover and passionate scuba diver, Berenike sees her work with the Carbon Reduction Institute as opportunity to do her bit for protecting our planet from a climate crisis.

Marvin Van Stralendorff
Manager, Finances and Operations
Marvin contributes to the Carbon Reduction Institute in many ways. As a talented IT specialist he keeps our operations smooth and our systems running. Marvin is truly passionate about IT – he started playing with computers at the age of 10 and is now able to setup and build IT infrastructures for various small companies.

In his spare time, Marvin enjoys sports - such as soccer and mountain biking - and fine dining. Both of these activities have taught him to care for and respect nature: Marvin has learned to appreciate the fine taste of natural, organic foods; and he also wants to preserve the nature he bikes in. By joining the Carbon Reduction Institute, Marvin feels he can do his bit for protecting Mother Nature.

Maurice Wells B. Eng (Photovoltaics), BCSE Accredited Solar Installer
Abatement Project Engineer
Maurice is interested in all aspects of sustainability in everyday life, from cycling and hitch hiking for transport, reuse of materials to energy efficiency and renewable energy in the home. Maurice’s home was displayed in Sustainable House Day 2006. Coordinator of the Nunnery Bicycle Workshop and co-founder of the Sydney Energy Cooperative, Maurice is dedicated to sustainability projects in the community.

Maurice has completed his Photovoltaic Engineering degree at UNSW, finishing with 1st class honours and narrowly missing out on the prestigious university medal. He works with the CRI team in the origination of carbon credit projects; from project design and submission to accreditation.

Fabricio Bellentani, BA Graphic Design
Graphic Designer
Fabricio came to Australia in 2005 to study digital video and simply fell in love with the red continent. Hailing from Sao Paulo- Brazil, where he studied Architecture and Graphic Design, Fabricio has a keen eye for colors, shapes and typography. His valuable contributions help us keep our website beautiful and dynamic.

He joined the Carbon Reduction Institute in August 2007; and when he is not working to save the planet from climate change, Fabricio runs his fashion label called “Schema Brasilika” and enjoys his free time playing percussive instruments and discovering new music worldwide.

His work with the Carbon Reduction Institute allows him to help protect the nature he learned to love and respect – in both his homes, Australia and Brazil.
