Carbon neutral product certification is where a product has had its total emissions impact calculated and that impact has been offset by the purchase of carbon offsets. Certification can be applied to any product, within any industry. Certification follows a commonsense approach and a process which is administered by the Carbon Reduction Institute.
The calculation involved in a product assessment is often more involved than a straightforward business audit. It includes the extraction and transport of raw materials, the manufacturing of the materials going into the product and the product itself, product freight, the use of the product and its end-of-life impacts. Read more about the audit approach for product certification.
Once certified, each product has the opportunity to be branded carbon neutral through the use of certification logos. This informs the consumer that their purchase has zero climate change impact. We assist clients with branding and communicating their product certification to ensure it receives maximum value.
