Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme CPRS

The Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, which was recently introduced by the federal government, will require approximately 1000 organisations to report their carbon emissions and purchase permits for every tonne of CO2 they release.

Every organisation that has a facility with direct emissions of 25 kilotonnes CO2e per year  will be covered by the scheme and required to purchase permits.

Is your business required to report its emissions?

Find out by undertaking a detailed NGER Report.

Marginal Cost of Abatement Study

Whether you are a compliance party under the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme or a high energy user you will benefit from understanding your marginal cost of abatement. Companies prepared with their marginal cost of abatement will know exactly what technologies to implement a certain carbon prices.

The study involves the following process:

Initial Seminar : Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme overview, how will it affect your business?

Initial Scoping meeting: The initial scoping meeting should include appropriate executives that can advise on an acceptable financial return on investment timeframe, what net present value to use and advice on liquidity and cash flow. The meeting will also determine the deliverables timeline.

Engagement Seminar: Calculating direct carbon impacts, identifying reduction opportunities and preparing your marginal cost of abatement curve.

Educating of facilities managers, production managers and engineers on how they determine the financial paybacks from abatement activities such as avoided energy use, avoided fuel consumption and the direct release of greenhouse, and how to model in the cost of carbon.

Abatement opportunity identification: With assistance from the CRI Staff, and after the education course the organisations engineers, facilities and production managers will be required to find abatement opportunities and calculate the financial paybacks.

Marginal Cost of Abatement Curve report: CRI will assess the opportunities provided in by the facilities managers and engineers, cataloging them from quickest ROI to shortest. From this data CRI will advise on those opportunities to implement without a cost of carbon and the provide a report detailing the companies marginal cost of abatement i.e. what technologies to implement as the price of Carbon rises.
