Events, whether large or small, have some impact on the environment. They tend to consume a lot of resources and produce excessive waste.
 
The good news is that there are many ways to reduce your event’s environmental impact, as well as offset the carbon emissions through the Carbon Reduction Institute.

The Carbon Reduction Institute has a wide ranging association with leading players within the events industry. As consultants, we have calculated the carbon footprint of Sydney’s New Year’s Eve fireworks event on behalf of the City of Sydney for the past 2 years. We are also contracted by government departments for greenhouse gas audits and for other large business.

We have developed a partnership with the Australian Centre for Event Management (a faculty within the University of Technology Sydney) to commercialise a carbon offset calculation tool for the global event industry. Any event, any where in the world can use the carbon calculation tool to measure the impact that the event has towards climate change.

CRI has also worked with the Melbourne Convention and Visitors Bureau to develop a custom calculation tool for the MCVB member venues. MCVB members can use this tool to calculate the carbon footprint of events that they host in their venues.
