As an industry, we need to ensure that our daily spa and salon operations are being addressed from an environmental perspective to reduce the impact we have on our planet. The Carbon Reduction Institute (CRI) is Australia’s leading carbon management consultancy with extensive expertise in carbon reduction for business, carbon offsetting and abatement. They work closely with industry leaders across all sectors to help businesses reduce their impact on climate change. The Low Carbon Spa & Beauty Initiative has been specially designed to provide the Spa & Beauty industry with a reliable action plan against global warming. Participating in the Initiative will let you investigate practical ways to reduce power, water and waste in your business. You will also offset some emissions with carbon credits and earn the well-established LowCO2 or NoCO2 business certification logo to promote your environmental actions. The goal of the Initiative is to reduce the operational climate change impact from the Spa & Beauty industry by 20% by 2015. This makes the Spa & Beauty industry one of the first in the world to take joint voluntary action against climate change. The Low Carbon Spa & Beauty Initiative is administered by the Carbon Reduction Institute. Low Carbon Spa & Beauty Initiative Has Been Launched The Low Carbon Spa & Beauty Initiative was launched at the International Spa & Beauty Expo on August 31st 2008 in a speech to top Spa & Beauty professionals. Our MD, Rob Cawthorne, presented to a captive audience about the serious nature of our climate, taking them through a journey about the history of our climate to a hypothetical example of the future. Rob also presented on CSR and actions Spa & Beauty associates can take to reduce water, power and waste in their daily operations.
